June

June was a busy month.  Besides the previous posts, here are some other things that we did.

We went to the "wooden park."  It's a park Darrell and the kids found on the Saturdays that Darrell would take the kids so I could work on my online classes for recertifying my teaching certificate.  The playground is made of wood and there are wood chips everywhere, so of course it gets called the "wooden park."

One day we took advantage of our Pass of all Passes and went to the aviary with my friend and her son.

This peacock was on the top of a building.  I didn't know they did that.



Tyler and his friend kept pretending to be Chris and Martin from Wild Kratts.  Here they all are in the "Tortuga."



Playing in the splash park by the aviary.  We hadn't really planned on going to it, but we had a little bit of time so the kids went through with their clothes on.

 

One day in June was "National Donut Day."  We took advantage of Dunkin' Donuts free donuts.  (Although in hindsight, it wasn't that great of a deal.  You had to buy a beverage ($2.00 each) to get the free donut.  So even though the donuts were yummy, I could have gone and bought 2 dozen donuts at WinCo for what we paid for "free donuts.")

 

 

We went to another splash park one day and the kids loved it.

Tyler doing soccer.  He has a great kick and can kick hard (in whatever direction he's going in. He doesn't really get that you sometimes have to turn it around and go towards the goal.)

One morning we went out so the kids could ride their bikes.  The kids like to ride in the green space across from our house.  As luck would have it the sprinklers were on that day.  I told them to stay out of the sprinklers, but they didn't listen. 

They enjoyed going through the "car wash" with their bikes.

Then they returned with their scooters.



 The kids wanted to go inside, but I wouldn't let them with their soaking wet clothes so they had to dry off outside.  They did bubbles and chalk art on the driveway.







Tyler decided it would be fun to color the brick with chalk.  Busted!

One Sunday evening, instead of taking a walk to a park because it was so, so hot, we drove over to Tyler's school to let the kids play on the playground there.  (It was still hot, but at least there's air conditioning on the way home.)

I was able to attend Girls Camp again this year and loved it.

Family Reunion

The last weekend in June we attended the family reunion for my mom's family.  I love seeing everyone and catching up--even if it is only once every year.

We were at a beautiful little park near Tremonton, Utah.  (You can see the vehicles of our camp.)

 

The Bear River ran near the park and the kids loved climbing down the cliffs to see the river and throw rocks, mud, etc. into it.  (To be honest, it made the mother in me a little nervous.)

We hiked down to this "beach."  It was really just hard, dried mud.



The reunion was Thursday night through Saturday afternoon.  Friday was a cool, rainy day.

Here's my beloved Grandpa all bundled up against the rain and the cold.  His health is declining, but it was good to have him at the reunion with us.

The camp site had all these crazy trees that seemed to grow sideways.  The kids loved playing on this hollowed out branch.

One of the highlights was taking turns floating down the Bear River.

I'm in the front and my cousin Doug is in the back.  It was a big, slow canoe, but it was still fun.  The kids enjoyed the ride for a little bit.  Then it started to rain on us and it was "taking FOREVER," so we let those who wanted to get out a little ways down the river.

Tyler thought it was pretty fun to ride in the boats when they got brought back to camp.



Friday night we had some family trivia games where we had to guess who the people in old pictures were or who had done certain things.  I have to admit I got this question wrong:  "Who can do the splits?"  The answer:  My mom!  (Isn't she amazing!?!)



Each family took turns providing the meals.  We were in charge of lunch on Saturday.  Look at all that pizza!



It warmed up Saturday and the kids loved going in the pool.





One of the most awesome things was having the "candy bomber" come.  We had watched a little video segment about the original candy bomber the night before.  So it was pretty cool to have candy drop from the sky for us.

We had such a great time.  I love family reunions.
