Enjoying summer

It's no secret that moving into a new classroom takes a lot of work.  The kids have had to spend time at the school with me as I've been getting the classroom set up.  But it hasn't all been torturous for them.  They get treats every half hour (we keep track on the white board), and they get to watch movies and take their new lunch boxes to the school to enjoy lunch.

The kids really helped me a lot one day by putting together these rolling drawers.

Tyler hammering

Emily screwing the nobs on the drawers

Megan putting drawers in.

All done.

But, I haven't wanted the kids to feel like we didn't have any fun this summer, so I've tried to have us get out and enjoy some fun summer activities too.

I was reading in the shade of a tree and Tyler kept trying to sneak up on me.

We've spent some time at Seven Peaks

Emily tried crossing the snake once and fell in head first so she hasn't been back on ( and I didn't get a picture of her on it.)

We spent one afternoon at a swimming pool.  Tyler jumped off the diving board over and over again.  (It was 13 feet deep there!)

We went to a puppet show at the library.  Megan was able to participate in the pre-show puppet show.

Enjoying the slip 'n' slide at our house.

We went to the 24th of July/Pioneer Days float preview party.  Our stake was in charge of a float this year.

Megan wanted a balloon creation (a unicorn).  Emily wanted a panda face paint and Tyler wanted a bat.

The kids wanted a picture by a king and queen.

July

We went to a rodeo at the first part of July.  After watching the "Mutton bustin'," we had some time before the rest of the rodeo started so we walked around.  The kids wanted a picture with the Chick-fil-A cow.  (Tyler, cow, Emily, Megan)

We also got sno cones  (Megan and Tyler)

The kids had never been to a rodeo before, so there was lots to see and learn

The kids loved riding their scooters around the park

We were at home for the 4th of July. Emily wanted me to do a star in her hair.

We went to a 4th of July parade.

The police did some "formation stuff" right by us before the parade began.

The fire truck was at the end of the parade and the kids loved getting soaked with the hose.

Tyler, Emily and Megan--a little wet

We had burgers on the grill for dinner.

Doing off some fireworks.

We went down to the park so we could be right underneath the fireworks.  That was really cool.

Spending more time at a park.

We went to a Cub Scout Bonanza where there were different activities.  The kids had a lot of fun.

Tyler racing his tinfoil boat against Megan.

Emily knocking down pop bottles

The kids made rockets out of paper and duct tape and then launched them.  Emily's went the farthest over and over again.

Tyler caught his rocket one time.

The kids and I went to motocross races.

Our motocross selfies

We went to some car racing.  We loved these train cars.  They are 3 cars hooked together with the driver in the front car and a "steer-er" in the back.  They race in a figure-8 track, so sometimes they get REALLY close to crashing.

We went to a dog show at the library for FHE.  Here the dog is jumping off the owner's back to catch a Frisbee.

Tyler had a chance to participate.  He was to hit a golf ball into a hole, but the dog swiped it.

Megan

Emily  (Emily has panda face paint on from the 24th of July float preview we attended earlier that day.)

Tyler got the free Frisbee that they through out.  (He has bat face paint on.)

We went to Arctic Circle afterwards for cones.

I was able to help out at Tyler's scout activity.  The boys planted seeds and helped in a garden.

Tyler received 2 belt loops at pack meeting.

We went to the Scera Outdoor Theater to see the musical "South Pacific."  I didn't get any pictures at the musical, but here are our "pre-musical" activities...a picnic in the park and playing on the playground.
