June 2022

June brought the end of the school year.

Last day of 7th grade for Tyler

Last day of 5th grade for Megan

Last day of 5th grade for Emily

Last day of my 5th year teaching 5th grade

I loved having Emily and Megan in my class this year.

The comparison from the first day (in our apartment) to the last day (at our new house).

The kids went to some friends' house to kick off the first day of summer.  Even though the girls thought they had applied a lot of sunscreen throughout the day, the unfortunately were  both very sunburned.

We saw a lot of progress on our landscaping.

Fencing and smoothing out the topsoil.

The air conditioning wasn't working, so the girls slept in the basement for one night until it got fixed. Their American Girl dolls also had a sleepover.

We went to Kangaroo Zoo.  Darrell joined the kids in having lots of fun.

The kids and I found a service project on JustServe.org.  We volunteered to help take the flowers, decorations, etc. off of the gravesites at a local cememtery. We put all of the items on large tarps and then the cemetery workers would take them to wherever they take them.  We helped for about 4 hours.  It was a HUGE cemetery, but it was fun to work with others and get a lot done.

Looking forward to graves that need to have items removed.

What it looked like after people went through.

Emily with a collection of windmills.

Tyler used some of his birthday money to go to a play-off game between the Utah Jazz and the LA Clippers.  He and Darrell went and had a great time.  The Jazz won!

Emily and the summer reading program sign.

We tried the cartoon app that was the "rage."

My brother Derek and his family moved closer to us, so they came for dinner.  We had tacos.  The kids loved playing together and I loved the adult conversation.

We met up with my frined Linde and her son Jacob at the Magna pool.  We've been getting together since Tyler and Jacob were 2 years old.  It's always fun to catch up.

We went to a "Watch Party" at teh Vivint Arena to watch the Jazz play the Clippers in LA.  It was fun to watch the game on the big screens with other fans, even though the Jazz lost.

The sprinkler pipe was laid!

We used our Get Out Pass to go to the Kearns outdoor pool.  There was a HUGE bucket of water that filled up and dumped.

Emily wanted to make ice cream cookie sandwiches.  They turned out so yummy!

The kids and I did a "Crazy Dash" scavenger hunt from our Get Out Passes.  We had to search for items and take pictures.  We went downtown Salt Lake City and it was fun to complete the tasks.  This worked for a building with pillars.

We stopped by to see the progress of the remodel of the Salt Lake temple.

Fence posts in (check!) Sprinklers in (check!) Ground leveled for sod (check!)

We went with the Roes to Wardle Park.

The rock and woodchips!

The kids and I went to visit my parents.

Playing games with Grandma.

We went to the World Musuem of Mining and went on a tour of the Orphan Girl Mine.

Another day we went to Crystal Park where you just go out and dig and then sift for crystals.

We had a picnic lunch and then the kids swam a little at Elkhorn Hot Springs.  (Although Tyler was grumpy and just put his feet in the water.

Our hike up and around "B" mountain.

We went target shooting and 4-wheeler/RZR riding.  It was the first time Emily and Megan had a chance to drive the RZR.

We had the Hansen (my mom's side) family reunion in Tremonton, UT.

We stayed with my parents at a hotel.  Here is Emily with some of the hotel room decor.

Lots of good cousin/2nd cousin time at the reunion.

Everyone loved the 9-square game.

Tyler was a good helper at meal times.

The water balloon launcher was a hit.

Taking shelter during a little down pour.

Barbie time

My uncle arranged for one of his neighbors to take him up into a little airplane so he could drop candy from it.  It was so fun.

Game time

Back for more fun the next day.

Tyler had a chance to partcipate in a Utah Jazz camp.

Emily and Megan's star (American Girl doll) sandwiches

We took on organizing our 72-hour kits that needed a long-overdue makeover.

Our sod arrived!  The workers were super fast and laid it speedily.  We didn't quite have enough to finish it all, but we have some "free" coming from our house purchase.
