Out With the Old, In With the New

Here is our "new" house

Would you believe the house had tile throughout the whole first floor--including the living room and the family room? It wouldn't have been so bad if the previous owners had laid the tile right or had kept it clean. But the reality for us is that the original owners had laid the tile themselves without the spongy backerboard to allow for some give and take. So the tiles were cracked and broken and dirty. It just wasn't the warm, "homey" feel we wanted so we hired someone to remove the tile and put carpet in the family room and living room and laminate in the kitchen and dining room.

Here are some before and after photos. What a difference!

Pretty floors! I am of the opinion that tile is only good for bathrooms. Carpet is so much more inviting--not to mention comfortable. Good job!
