Girls Camp

I was able to attend Girls Camp with our ward this year as the Beehive Advisor.  We had the opportunity to attend Heber Valley Camp and it was awesome!

One afternoon we got to do the obstacle course, which included a zipline (although I didn't get any pictures of that.)  Here the girls had to use teamwork to reach the rope without stepping over the line.  It helps to have a tiny Beehive you can heft over.



Carri and I were assigned to help with the Faith Walk.  The girls were blindfolded and led a little ways up the mountain where they had their hands placed on a rope.  They couldn't talk and they couldn't look where they were going.  They had to hold onto the rope and make it through an obstacle course.  Carri and I couldn't talk to them, but we could gently take their hands and place them on the correct rope if they couldn't find the right way (or if they let go completely and started wandering around the mountain on their own--blindfolded!)  It was a very spiritual experience for the girls and for Carri and me as we learned a little bit about what it's like to walk by faith.

The weather wasn't so cooperative so we had our testimony meeting around our lanterns in one of the yurts rather than outside around the fire.

There were a few pranks pulled.  This was a special treat for the girls from Carri...Oreos with mint toothpaste.

The girls took the bus back to the church.  We went ahead and unloaded all of the things on April's lawn.

 

Girls Camp was such a wonderful experience.  I loved being up in the mountains with the girls and the leaders.  We had so many great experiences.  It was very spiritually renewing.  (And I may have enjoyed only having to worry about myself for a week.  Thanks, Mom and Dad, for watching the kids!)
