Teacher Appreciation

I was in charge of Teacher Appreciation (May 4-8) at Tyler's school again this year, but I had a few others to help out this year, which was so nice!

We went with a literature book theme.  Each day had a different book featured and corresponding food and gifts to go with it.  (We had 55-ish teachers, administrators and  staff to provide gifts for each day.)

Monday was "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie"/"If You Give a Moose a Muffin."  The other ladies that helped brought in breakfast items--bagels, muffins, fruit, etc.  Then they handed out these cute little bags with chocolate in them.  Their poem went with "If you give a teacher a compliment..."





Tuesday's book was "The Very Hungry Caterpillar."  I made all of these bookmarks by hand (yes, I knew it was a bit crazy, but I enjoyed it.  There were 55 teachers and staff to get gifts for.)  We had a salad bar for lunch.









I was too busy keeping the salad bar full to get a good picture, but there were two caterpillar balloons above the salad bar items.



Wednesday  was "Click, Clack Moo Cows That Type."  I made up these little milk cartons and filled them with candy.  Chick-fil-A donated chicken nuggets and salad.





Thursday was a Harry Potter themed day.  They each got a house elf sign:





And then each of the teachers had a chance to come down to "Honeydukes Candy Shop" while a volunteer went into their classroom to have the students write thank you notes to their teachers.















Friday was a Dr. Seuss theme.  We gave all of the teachers and staff some popcorn. 





Then just the teachers and full-time staff were invited to a "Who Feast" in the library.  I picked up the pulled pork and rolls from Texas Roadhouse and another mom came up with the rest.  She did a great job.















We handed out these stadium blankets to the teachers and administration.







I purposely did NOT sign up to decorate a door this year, but as "luck" would have it, one of the parents who volunteered to decorate didn't "show up and deliver."  So I had to hurriedly make this poster up Monday morning.  The secretaries printed of the planets and rocket ship and I did the rest.



Sheesh!  What a lot of work, but the teachers were VERY appreciative.  I removed myself as the "Teacher Appreciation" chairperson for next year and signed up for Field Day--we'll see how that goes.
