September

September started out with a trip to the dentist for Megan.

One of her grown-up teeth was growing in behind her baby teeth.  (Like mother-like daughter.  I had to have my first 4 bottom teeth pulled when I was 6 years old too because of my teeth growing in behind my baby teeth.)

Darrell took her to the dentist and sent me pictures.  (It was the first time I wasn't able to be at a doctors appointment since being a "working mom."  I had already had to prepare for a sub 2 times earlier in the week.)

She was really nervous about going and getting her 2 bottom teeth pulled out, but she decided it wasn't all that bad when it was all said and done.

Now she talks with a slight lisp--so cute!

One day I was able to go to Scouts with Tyler while he passed off some swimming requirements.

The girls are doing dance and tumbling from the fitness center.

Megan chose to do jazz/ballet.  (She's in the middle with the red and blue leotard and black skirt.)

Emily chose to do tumbling.

Darrell had to go to the BYU/Utah game for work, so the kids and I pulled out a table and ate while we watched the game.  (Tyler, Emily and Megan)

A Sunday afternoon trip to the park.

Tyler is doing fall soccer and is doing really well.  He has had some awesome kicks.

The kids received free tickets to the state fair for reading during the summer.  We had a lot of fun and wished we could have done more things.

Eating $5 hotdogs (!) and their free can of pop they also got for reading.  (Tyler, Emily and Megan)

The kids loved going into an exhibit where they got to learn all about how we get our food.  Here Emily and Tyler are planting "seeds."

They loved riding on these tractors.

The kids also loved playing in this "corn box."  It's kind of like a sand box, but it was made up of kernels of corn.

We had the opportunity to attend a "circus" at the state fair.  (Think "America's Got Talent" type acts.)  The clowns were hilarious.

And the tightrope walkers were amazing.

My mom had brain surgery to remove a benign tumor that was growing behind her eye.  Thankfully the operation went very well and she is healing amazingly.  While she was at the hospital my dad was able to come watch Tyler's soccer game.  It was a little chilly.

I love this little football player who dresses up and goes out and plays football in the front yard by himself and comes back in with grass stains every. single. time.

One night for FHE Darrell and Tyler worked on Tyler's pinewood derby car.

While the guys were sawing away the girls and I colored because they recently informed me: "You never do ANYTHING with us like color or play Barbies."

Since Darrell and I know nothing about pinewood derby cars we were grateful when Dad was able to lend his expertise.

Tyler's car for the pinewood derby.

Here it is getting ready for its first race.

And here's Tyler waiting down by the finish line.

Unfortunately Tyler's car came in last in all 4 races it was in.  :(  He was pretty bummed.  Maybe next year...

We were super excited that Kimberly, Sage and Olivia had tickets to go to a session of General Conference and were able to spend Friday night with us.  They were able to go to the pinewood derby with us and then to Tyler's soccer game on Saturday.

Megan, Olivia and Emily loved playing dress up.

Labor Day Weekend

The kids and I were able to spend Labor Day weekend with my parents.  (Darrell had to go to an out-of-town BYU football game for work.)

The kids had so much fun being with cousins.

We went to the county fair and had a grand time.

Laura, Daniel and Nathaniel showed goats at the fair.

The kids were able to go on lots of rides.

One of the funnest parts of the weekend was this "highly anticipated" basketball game between Duke and BYU.  Kyle was BYU and Tyler was Duke.  We were given these beforehand.

The audience

The cheerleaders (Emily and Megan)

Laura was a scorekeeper and Daniel was the "play by play" radio announcer (on a walkie talkie)

Aubrey was the other scorekeeper

And the players--Tyler and Kyle (It got a little rough at times)

There were even sponsors:

Mountain Plains Research (my dad's business)

Mom's Daycare

And

Our half-time entertainment

Megan and Olivia

Emily and Aubrey

And Nathaniel (who also liked to distract one player to give the advantage to the other)

We laughed and laughed so hard throughout the whole thing.  It was a lot of fun.  In the end Duke and BYU tied.  We headed upstairs for ice cream floats and popcorn.

I have to give a big shout out to my helpers.  They cut out lots of math centers for me while watching the BYU football game.

We ended the weekend with the annual Labor Day parade and lots of candy.

It was so good to be together for a short weekend.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

We're 5 days late, but we wanted to remember Darrell's dad's birthday.  Hopefully it was a good day in heaven with his mom (Grandma Nellie) who passed away last week at the age of 97!

We love you Grandpa!
