March

The school PTA sponsored Books and Buddies.  I went and then had to go get ready for a day of teaching, but Darrell came and read with the kids.

Books and Buddies landed on Read Across America Day.  Here's my 5th grade team.  Love these ladies so much!

We had a chance to go the last University of Utah gymnastics meet.  We were in the nose-bleed section, but it was a cool experience.  (You have to really look for the gymnast on the bars in the 2nd picture.)

We went to Disney on Ice.  It was a fun show and we all really enjoyed it.

The Little Mermaid

Frozen

The next day Megan had to perform "Megan on Ice."  She changed into different costumes and "skated" for us on the "ice."

This was the extent of our creative St. Patrick's Day festivities-green pancakes for dinner.

Darrell and I celebrated our 12th anniversary by going to the temple to do sealings and then eating at Texas Roadhouse.  This is the only picture we got.

My traditional try-on-my-wedding-dress-on-our-anniversary picture.  This was the first year I couldn't get it zipped all the way up in the back.  (Sigh!)

Love these kiddos! (Tyler, Emily and Megan below them).

The school had an art night.  We got dinner from the food truck

Tyler by his art.  (His is the blue and green one on the top row.)

Megan's was the cat (top row) and the owl by her head.

Emily's cat and owl on the top row.

Doing some art night activities.

We celebrated Darrell's birthday by eating at Popeye's

(Megan wanted me to take a picture of her posing at Popeye's.  Then when she saw it, she said, "I look good!"  Oh my!)

We had Costco cake at home.

We received a letter from the school nurse saying Emily should have a follow-up at the eye doctor to see if she needed glasses.  Turns out she doesn't.

These pictures are very good, but we went to see "Beauty and the Beast."  Emily wore her Belle dress and Megan wore her Sleeping Beauty dress.

Ice Castles

We went to the Ice Castles this year.  It was a beautiful sunny day, which made for very comfortable temperatures, but melting-dripping-on-your-head ice castles.

The kids loved it and so did we.

Emily, Tyler and Megan all wanted pictures on the top of the snow pile before we even made it to the actual ice castles.

Inside the Ice Castles

It was beautiful to take pictures looking up at the ice formations

The kids wanted to try the slide.  They were only wearing their pants and they got pretty wet!

Trying out the ice thrones

The kids loved meeting Elsa and Anna at the end

January and February

Our old van died over winter break while we were visiting my parents.  Luckily they let us borrow their car to get us back home and to get us where we needed to be the following week.  Thank goodness for internet searches and van reviews because we were able to narrow our search down and go to the used car dealership to check out 2 different vans.  We decided on a 2016 Honda Odyssey.  We love it!

We have been trying to be better at family scripture study.  It helps that the kids now have their own tablets (and their new pillows too).

We went to Chick-fil-A for a PTA school spirit night.

Megan painting on one of her Christmas presents.  We'll stash it in with the other Christmas decorations and bring it out next year.

We ate at Buffalo Wild Wings to support the school's jump rope club's fundraiser.

Tyler was pretty proud about decorating his very own Star Wars Valentine's box.  (He used lots and lots of tape!)

I helped  Megan with the Hello Kitty box.  She drew the white hearts on.

And I helped Emily with covering the box and cutting the legs on her spider, but she did the rest.

We didn't get our traditional Valentine's dinner on Valentine's Day, but we made it a few days later after we attended a Grizzlies hockey game (where I apparently didn't take any pictures.)
