Spring Break

As I was looking through the requirements for Tyler to receive his Wolf Badge, I noticed there were several camping and hiking requirements we still needed to do.  So we decided to go camping for Spring Break.




We got to our campsite and started setting up camp--basically in the middle of a tornado.  The winds were SO strong it took all five of us to hold down the tent.  We got it put up to this point (notice the huge rocks trying to hold down the tarps underneath) and we were trying to put the rain fly on, when the wind whipped the rain fly off and ripped off the material attached to the tent. 



We ate dinner while holding on to our plates and basically froze.



It was at that point that we decided to bag camping for the night and head to a motel.  Darrell wasn't feeling well anyway, so it really was the best decision.

The next day we headed out to visit Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park.  Darrell didn't feel well so he hung out in the van while the rest of us explored and had lunch.

We decided to head back to the camp site and see how the winds were.  Talk about a day/night difference!  The weather was calm and perfect!  We put the rain fly on and settled in.

The next day we went to Snow Canyon State Park to fulfill the hiking requirement for Tyler's Wolf badge.

The school PTA sponsored Books and Buddies.  I went and then had to go get ready for a day of teaching, but Darrell came and read with the kids.





Books and Buddies landed on Read Across America Day.  Here's my 5th grade team.  Love these ladies so much!



We had a chance to go the last University of Utah gymnastics meet.  We were in the nose-bleed section, but it was a cool experience.  (You have to really look for the gymnast on the bars in the 2nd picture.)





We went to Disney on Ice.  It was a fun show and we all really enjoyed it.

The next day Megan had to perform "Megan on Ice."  She changed into different costumes and "skated" for us on the "ice."











This was the extent of our creative St. Patrick's Day festivities-green pancakes for dinner.



Darrell and I celebrated our 12th anniversary by going to the temple to do sealings and then eating at Texas Roadhouse.  This is the only picture we got.

We celebrated Darrell's birthday by eating at Popeye's

(Megan wanted me to take a picture of her posing at Popeye's.  Then when she saw it, she said, "I look good!"  Oh my!)

We had Costco cake at home.

We received a letter from the school nurse saying Emily should have a follow-up at the eye doctor to see if she needed glasses.  Turns out she doesn't.

These pictures are very good, but we went to see "Beauty and the Beast."  Emily wore her Belle dress and Megan wore her Sleeping Beauty dress.
