We bought a box of "Edible Minion Twinkies." It was kinda fun to decorate them and then eat them.
I was able to attend the sealing of my dear roommate Mindy. Here she is with her hubby Joel. Mindy has 2 daughters that she adopted as a single mom that were also sealed to Mindy and Joel that day. It was beautiful!
Here I am with Mindy and one of my other roommates Allison. We lived together for 4 years and I love them dearly.
The kids' school had a daily contest for the 11 days before school started. A picture of a box (with school swag) was posted somewhere around the valley at 6:00 p.m. sharp. Then the race was on to see who could get to the box first and claim the prize. We tried a couple times to get some boxes that were near to us (without any luck) and ignored some boxes that were too far away in the valley (or we couldn't figure out the clue), but one day luck smiled on us. When the post came across at 6:00 p.m. I made a guess that it was at a theater near us. The kids jumped in the van and we hurried to see if we could claim the prize. As luck would have it, we made the right guess and we showed up first.
Here is the clue:
The box included a school t-shirt, a school lanyard, a school baseball cap, an autographed picture of the school and teachers and candy. (Emily, Megan and Tyler)
A little slip 'n' slide action.

Evidence that we have TOO many toys. This is what happens when I set the timer to have the kids clean up their toys, and they decide to do other things besides clean up their toys--the toys get to stay down in the basement. The requirement to get a toy out of the basement is to do a chore.
Making a huge train
I really like these "learning to read" books that the library has. They introduce 1-2 words at a time and then build on those words throughout the series. I was proud of both girls finishing up the first 27 books of the first series (the red books) and moving onto the second series (the orange books) before the summer ended.
The kids were awarded some free tickets to a Real Monarchs soccer game. They got to run out on the field for the national anthem.
Here they are waiting to run on with a bunch of other kids. (Tyler's looking at the camera and Emily is staring through the fence. Megan is in the white and flowered skirt.)
Running out--Tyler is in the blue shirt and red shorts. Emily is in the green shirt and pink shorts.
They're out there somewhere in the huge line.
And running off the field.

It was a beautiful night and we had a great time.
This was our "not-so-fun" end to the evening. We were heading home on the freeway and traffic in front of us stopped. We stopped, and the guy behind us stopped, but the two pick-up trucks behind us didn't. They slammed into the car between us, which slammed into us. Luckily no one was injured and we were able to drive away, although we did sustain some bumper damage.

The kids like to use scratch paper to draw and then they hang their drawings in their rooms. It kinda drives me crazy, but they like doing it, and they won't always be into drawing and displaying their art.
