Legoland

We went to LEGOLAND one day while we were in California and the kids loved it!

The kids saw the "Lego Friends" right when we walked in the park.  (In case you were wondering who the Lego Friends are, Emily just informed me that they are: Emma, Mia, Olivia, Andrea and Stephanie.)

We didn't go on very many rides because the kids whined about having to wait in line and they preferred to see other parts of the park.  They had places to play with Legos at some of the rides.  This was one of them.

It was cool to see the mini cities in "Miniland." (Tyler, Emily and Megan by New York City.)



Tyler loved the Star Wars section the best.  They had scenes from most of the Star Wars movies.

We tried some fried apples and whipped cream.



Instead of waiting in line (heaven forbid!) for a ride, the kids would rather play on playgrounds.  (Insert eye roll.)  So I took them to play while Darrell and Carol went for a ride on a boat.

The kids LOVED building Lego boats and then racing them.  Darrell loved it too, but I didn't get a picture of him.







We were going to get pizza at LEGOLAND, but it was going to take FOREVER, so we left the park and went to In 'n' Out instead.  Delicious!

California

We were able to go to California in July and had a great time.

The day we arrived we went to see Darrell's grandma--Grandma Nellie--who recently turned 97(!) years old!

She can't hear very well so we communicate with this little white board.  Emily drew this cute picture of her and Grandma Nellie (in her wheelchair.)

We went to the beach one afternoon.  It was SO nice.  We didn't go down to the ocean per se, we just went to a little inland beach surrounded by houses.  It wasn't very crowded at all, so we loved it.

Tyler thought it was fun to lay in the sand and get covered with sand before heading out into the water to wash off.








The kids had a fun time taking turns throwing a ball out in the water for a dog to retrieve.





The kids and I made a "castle."  It was fun to work on it together.

We went out to eat at a yummy Mexican restaurant with Darrell's sister Brenda and her family.

After church on Sunday we went to visit Darrell's dad's grave site.  They loved cleaning up around the grave marker and taking turns arranging the flowers.
