Labor Day 2018

We went camping at Mt. Timpanogos Campground over Labor Day Weekend.

We were right below Mt. Timapanogos--it was so cool!

We arrived in the evening and had to finish putting up our tent in the dark.

Then next morning we had little cereals for breakfast.

We found this chipmunk at a different site while we were walking around the campground.  He had figured out how to get a drink of water.  He would crawl down and hang on upside down.  It was so funny.

The kids went out exploring near the campsite.

Hoagies for lunch

We went to Orem in the afternoon and the kids swam at the Scera pool.

We headed to BYU and went to the bookstore. (Emily, Tyler, Cosmo and Megan)

We got a tasty treat at Krispy Kreme donuts.

The next day was Sunday.  We went to Sacrament Meeting in Orem and then walked around the Provo Temple grounds.

We made a brief stop at Bridal Veil Falls before heading back to our camp.

The girls and I walked over to the Amphitheater across the road.

Darrell went for a hike and biffed it!

My sister-in-law Tansy was visiting her parents for the weekend and they drove over to see us and brought some yummy watermelon.  It was so fun to visit with them. (Stephanie, Kent, Tansy, Megan, Tyler, Emily and Darrell.)

Roasted hot dogs and s'mores for dinner.

The campground was pure heaven for the kids.  They headed off exploring and entertained themselves quite well.

And with exploring comes fun consequences:

The kids played with rocks around camp while I cleaned out the tent. (Emily, Megan, Tyler)

They even placed these rocks from camp around the base of the tree.  Some of them had been painted on from past guests.

We sure do love camping!

August 2018

We picnicked at the Scera Park and then watched "Bye Bye Birdie."

The girls tried out gymnastics for one free day.  They decided they liked it and we signed them up for the year.

Our random cobs of corn from our garden.

The kids helped Grandma and Grandpa mow their lawn.  They loved it!  (Tyler, Emily and Megan)

The girls learned how to clean and snap green beans fresh from the garden.

Darrell and I were able to attend Newsies at the Hale Center Theater while the kids were in Montana.

All of the new clothes laid out the night before the first day of school. (There are technically 2 new outfits each, but they only wore one set the first day.)

First day of school 2018

Megan-3rd grade with Mrs. Christensen

Emily-3rd grade with Mrs. Mott

Tyler-5th grade with Mrs. Berhold.  (We weren't sure if Tyler could be in my class, so he was assigned to another teacher for one day.  Then we found out he COULD be in my class and he switched over on the 2nd day of school.)

Tyler had a soccer game the same evening school started.

Then we went to Menchie's for a back-to-school treat.

The Webelos had a chance to do some service at a care facility.  They weeded and then did a skit or two.

A Sunday evening bike ride to a park.
