Memorial Day

We had a quiet Memorial Day. The kids love going to "the wooden park," a park that has lots of...wood playground equipment.

That night we had barbecued burgers.

Then we went to the oval track races. They are always so fun to go to.

The first week of June was the last week of school for Tyler. The girls and I helped out on field day. We were with the 4th-6th graders in the morning while the 1st-3rd graders were doing the outside activities. Then I went and observed the outside activities in the afternoon so I know what's up when I am in charge of it next year.

At the very end of the day a fire truck showed up. The principal got to spray the kids out on the field. The kids (and the principal) loved it!

Tyler had pajama day and a read-a-thon one day.

He also had a 1st grade talent show. He played the piano.

On the last day of school Tyler came home with the "Eagle of the Year" award from the school assembly. I believe each class had 1-2 "Eagles of the Year." Tyler made great improvements in his Dibels scores this year. So proud of him!

We had a very cold and rainy day of soccer and had to dress appropriately.

And of course, umbrellas MUST be played with (and fought over!)

One Sunday I got out one of my old puzzles to work on (and fight over!)

I helped the Young Women with a window washing fundraiser for Girls Camp.

We went to a school fundraiser at Chick-fil-A. Emily wanted a picture by the cow sign.

The kids and I went to the drag races at Rocky Mountain Raceways. (Darrell was mowing the lawn.) We stayed to watch the jet engine cars race and that was pretty cool (and loud), but I don't have any pictures of that.

We spent time working on riding a bike without training wheels. I searched the web on the how to help kids learn. This website suggested taking the pedals and training wheels off and having them balance--easier said than done. We "borrowed" the neighbors' sloped driveway to give them some momentum.
