Happenings at our House

This is just a little "catch up" post on what we've been up to.

Tyler loved "helping" me bake a couple cakes.

It kind of "warmed up" so Darrell and Tyler went for a walk. Tyler loves his new wagon. He got it for Christmas, but this is the first time he's ridden in it.

My pregnancy continues to go well.

We've put our house on the market. We would like to get closer to Darrell's work. He takes the bus to and from work and usually doesn't get home until 8:00-ish each night. With 2 itty bitties on the way and Tyler soon to be 2 years old, I need my cute, sweet hubby home more.

We've had the house on the market for 3 weeks and have shown it 8 times so far. Hopefully something will work out soon!

Happy (Late) Birthday Grandma!

Photobucket

Happy Birthday to Darrell's mom on Feb. 15. (Our computer has been in and out of the "experts' hands" for a couple of weeks trying to be de-virused once and for all. We just barely got it back last night, so this post is very late. Sorry!!!)

Snow Boy

One day, a few weeks ago, I decided to take Tyler outside with me while I shoveled our driveway and sidewalk. I bundled him up in snow pants, his coat and his hat. The boots didn't fit, but his tennis shoes worked just fine. Tyler didn't like the confinement of mittens and refused to wear them...

until he fell in the snow and got cold hands. Then he decided they weren't so bad afterall.

I'm a Big Boy Now!

It all started because of this:

You see, Tyler and I eat dinner by ourselves because Darrell's commute brings him home quite late. When Darrell does get home, Tyler often wants to join him at the table. Tyler used to get on Darrell's chair and play with Darrell's plate, utensils, etc. Darrell wouldn't have a place to sit to eat, so he would bring a chair over and the two of them would eat together.

Well, Tyler kind-of liked that arrangement and started protesting every time I put him in his high chair. He'd arch his back and throw a fit. I'd have to "force" Tyler in his high chair and then hurry and put the tray on so he couldn't escape.

Eventually I gave in. Tyler liked sitting at the table like a big boy. We went online and found some new, heavy duty booster seats like they have in restaurants. But, until they arrived, Tyler enjoyed his "improvised arrangements"--a Sterilite storage container.

Photobucket

Now he has his very own booster and he LOVES sitting up to the table like a big boy.

Cars

It's funny to me that even though Tyler got lots of new toys for Christmas, his favorite toys are 5 Tonka cars Aunt Brenda gave him for his birthday. He's had these cars "sitting around" for several months and he'd play with them from time to time, but not anything like he does now.

Photobucket

He likes bringing them to Darrell and me so we can play with him too. And of course we (usually) stop what we're doing to play a little, because childhood doesn't last long and who knows when he'll move on to something else.

Photobucket

Tyler likes lining them up

and parking them on his kitchen.

New Years

My grandma (my mom's mom) passed away on Christmas night. (I will do a post about her after I've been able to scan some photots.) Because of her death and funeral, Tyler and I were able to spend some time with my parents during the holidays.

We got to help cute Olivia celebrate her 3rd birthday!

And we had a blast playing Rock Band. Tyler loved watching Nathaniel and Laura sing and play, and he even tried out the drums.

Here he is trying his own hand at singing in the microphone.

We welcomed the New Year in a little before midnight and Tyler loved the string from the poppers!

He even tried out his own blower.

Tyler loved hanging out with his cousins. Here he is chasing Daniel around in a circle and screaming with joy (like a Banshee!)
