We had a whole week off from school for our Spring Break so we decided to do a Church History Tour. We did a lot of driving!
We stopped at Little America in the middle of Wyoming for $0.75 ice-cream cones.
We stopped for lunch in Tully, WY. We left one of our rocks to brighten someone's day.
We went to Martin's Cove. We went to the visitor center and saw the names of my 3rd gread grandparents-James and Mary (Rainey) Laird-and their 3 children-one who is my 2nd great grandpa Edward. He was 4 years old when they crossed the plains with the Willie Handcart Company.
We decided to hike out to the Cove. We took turns pulling/pushing a handcart. It was super windy and there were lots of cow patties in the way. It wasn't a "real" excursion, but it gave us a little bit of a clue to what life was like.
We spent the night in Cheyenne, WY and then headed all the way across Nebraska the next day. We watched/listened General Conference on the way. (Notice the phone on the dash.)
We stopped at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, NE where the Nebraska Cornhuskers play.
We made it in time to go to the Winter Quarters Visitor Center. The tour guide was so nice to give us an extended tour even after it closed.
We spent the night in Council Bluffs, IA.
