Mystery Vegetable

Photobucket

My cute husband Darrell planted most of our tiny garden this year. We've gotten beans, tomatoes and a cucumber out of it so far. The only problem is that he can't remember what he planted here:

Any ideas?

Here's a close up view.

Grasshoppers and Morning Glory

Our yard has two friendly visitors--grasshoppers and morning glory. As I was walking through the grass this morning, loads of grasshoppers jumped out of my way. Gross! Then as I was attacking the morning glory on my hands and knees, there was a grasshopper right in front of me on the grass. I tried shooing him away and he wouldn't even budge--the nerve! We do not have a welcome sign or a "no vacancy" sign posted for either of our "guests," and I wish they'd just leave.

I took Tyler outside with me and put him on a blanket in the shade. I heard him squirming around and found him with the blanket over his head.

California Fun

We just got back from spending some time with Darrell's family in California. It was such a fun, relaxing vacation. Here are some of the highlights.

First, a few introductions were in store:

Grandma and Grandpa babysat Tyler while Darrell and I went to the Newport Beach Temple.

After returning from the temple along the Pacific Coast Highway, we stopped to eat at In-N-Out. I have been to California several times, but I had never eaten at one. It was yummy!!

One night we went out to eat at Domenico's, where Jeffrey works. The soup, salad and pizza were DE-LISH! Tyler sat up to the table, taking everything in with his big eyes until he fell asleep.

We were all together, except for Matthew--Brenda and Steve's son--who is in the Coast Guard. We missed him.

Out With the Old--In With the New

Photobucket

A couple days ago I put away most of Tyler's 0-3 month clothes and pulled out the 3-6 month clothes. Shown above are almost 2 drawer-fuls of "new" clothes stacked up on the floor. Some of them were given to Tyler and others my sister Kimberly is letting us borrow. Nevertheless, it's just so exciting to have so many new options. It ALMOST (but not quite) makes me want Tyler to barf or pee on what he's wearing so I can have him try on ANOTHER outfit. It made me think about how great it would be if I got a whole new set of clothes every 2-3 months. Yeah right--nice wishing! Technically, I'd have a "new" wardrobe if I could ever get back into my pre-maternity clothes. Maybe someday....

Before putting away his 0-3 month clothes I wanted to get a picture of this:

Darrell's mom gave Tyler this adorable teddy bear. I wanted to take a picture of Tyler and the bear being "twins."

I Could Get Used to This!!!!

Photobucket

Last night Darrell put a sleeping Tyler in his crib at 9:15 p.m. Tyler didn't make a peep until almost 7:00 a.m. this morning. That's a good 9 1/2 hours of sleep!!! The down side was that he didn't sleep much during the day yesterday so I had to be the constant "entertainer," which is a little exhausting in itself. I'd like to think the sleeping-through-the-night thing is permanent, but I seriously doubt it.

Some Favorite Pictures of Tyler

We fell in love with those big eyes from the beginning.

Darrell loves anything to do with dogs and puppies. His mom's good friend sent Tyler several puppy blankets, a puppy nightgown and hat, and some puppy slippers.

I think this hat makes Tyler look like the Pope.

4th of July

Before heading out for homemade ice cream, homemade rootbeer and brownies with friends on the 4th of July, we took a few pictures. I especially love the one of Tyler and Darrell because Darrell's actually smiling for the camera. I love his smile, but the camera doesn't see it very often.
